The Complete Guide to SEO Terminology
Have you ever been lost with so many terms found on the Internet when it comes to websites and blogs? At first, I was very lost, but with time I got used to it and today I decided to create this mini guide containing the SEO terminology to help you.
Below I highlight the terms of highest incidence or search on Google, among some others that I added because it is something that leaves us in doubt or that makes us open a new tab in the browser to learn more about it.
The SEO Terminology
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - in Portuguese translation it is Website Optimization, it is a set of techniques and strategies with the objective of improving and enhancing the positioning of the website or blog in search engines, which can generate conversions, increase traffic, lead generation, purchases, etc.
Alt Tag - is an attribute used to provide alternative information to an image. If a user for some reason cannot see the image due to a slow connection problem, an error in another attribute such as src, or if he is a user with special needs.

Backlink - is the link received from another website or Internet page that is referencing your website or blog.
Description - This HTML attribute is used to briefly describe the content of your web page.

Directories - folders used to store your files inside a computer, tablet, or smartphone that contain references to other directories or files and serve to organize the hard disk, among others.
BlackHat - is a hacker who "violates computer security for no apparent reason, out of spite or for personal gain". They break into secure networks to destroy, modify or steal data.
Click Through Rate or CTR (Click Through Rate) - is one of the indicators used in digital marketing that shows how many times people who see your ad, click on it. CTR can be used to measure how well your keywords and ads are working.
Geolocation - indicates the geographical position that you or any device connected to the network or not.

Title - one of the items that most influence the positioning of your site in search engines. It defines the title of the document or page. For SEO and SEO terminology, this is a key element for the user experience.
Heading Tags - you must have seen many articles talking about the use of the H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6 tags. They are used to structure and organize the pages of the website or blog. These tags highlight the titles (tag H1) and subtitles (from H2 to H6) of your pages, the latter is great for including complementary keywords in your articles.

Keyword Density - this is the number of times that a certain keyword appears on your page or article. It is measured in percentages, so if the percentage is too high and this keyword appears too much on your page, your site may be penalized. It is advisable to use a density of 2% to 8%.
Long tail - refers to the practice of trying to attract visitors through what they are looking for in sporadic queries for a website. The long tail has a very attractive advantage: it is where most of the traffic is located.

Negative SEO (negative SEO) - occurs when someone tries to lower the ranking of a website in search engines.
Page Rank - is a rating algorithm, a system for grading web pages, developed by Google professionals to understand the importance of a website or web page for people and search engines.
PageSpeed - tools that help optimize the performance of your website. They help you identify the best performance practices to apply to your site.
Responsive - is a concept used in web design that aims to create websites and blogs that provide an easy-to-read viewing experience and navigation optimized for mobile devices.
